Voting 101 in Chautauqua County

MAYVILLE, NY – Chautauqua County Election Commissioners Luz E. Torres and Nacole L. Ellis have announced that a total of 80,033 active voters are registered to participate in the upcoming General Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. across the county.

Poll Site Changes for the November 4th General Election

  • Dunkirk Voters who previously voted at the St. Hyacinth’s BMA poll site will now vote at the Clarion Hotel, 30 Lake Shore Dr. E. in Dunkirk. This change is for voters in the Dunkirk Ward 1, District 2 Election District.
  • Additionally, Dunkirk Voters who previously voted at the St. Hedwig’s Social Center BMA poll site will now vote at the P-TECH STEM Academy, 55 E. Benton St. in Dunkirk. This change is for voters in the Dunkirk Ward 4, District 2 Election District.
  • Gerry Voters will now vote at the Gerry Rodeo Conference Center, 4351 Route 60 in Gerry. This change is for all voters in the Town of Gerry.

All voters with poll site changes have been mailed a blue postcard with the information on it.

Eligibility to Vote: Any New York State citizen at least age 18 at the date of the General Election who previously registered by October 25 is eligible to vote.

Bilingual Ballots Voters outside the Cities of Dunkirk and Jamestown will notice all ballots are now bilingual, featuring both English and Spanish on each ballot due to new Election Law changes. Votes in the two Cities have had Bilingual ballots since 2024 and were previously offered separately, in English and Spanish.

Moved? If a voter registered previously anywhere in New York State and is in current active or inactive voter registration status anywhere in New York State and failed to notify the Board of Elections, the voter may go to his or her new polling place on Election Day Nov. 5th or any county early voting site before the election, fill out a provisional affidavit ballot and once the voter is proven to be eligible, that ballot will be counted following the Election.

Voting Technology: Early voters and Election Day voters will sign in to vote on an electronic poll book tablet. The signature will be compared to the electronic voter registration signature on file.

Where to see election results? www.votechautauqua.com will have live county election night results starting at 9:15 p.m. Early Mail/Absentee & Early Voting totals will be posted on the county website after the polls close along with Election Day results from the Carlson Community Center. Election Day results will be added as available.  Early Mail/Absentee ballots received after 3PM on Friday, October 31 and Affidavit Ballots will be counted and added to Election Day totals. Early Mail/Absentee Ballots have 7 days to be returned (as long as they are postmarked by Election Day). Additionally, valid federal overseas and military ballots have until thirteen days after the election to be received and counted.
