As a result of the ongoing federal government shutdown, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November may be delayed. We understand that this may cause concern for families who rely on these benefits to meet their basic food needs.
Chautauqua County is here to help. Local food pantries, soup kitchens, and charitable partners continue to provide meals and support for residents in need. Those experiencing food insecurity are encouraged to reach out to these resources:
St. Susan Center – 31 Water Street, Jamestown, NY
Friendly Kitchen (Chautauqua County Rural Ministry) – 319 Washington Avenue, Dunkirk, NY
Find additional food programs near you: 211wny.org (search “food” and enter your ZIP code)
Residents can also stay up to date on SNAP benefits and related announcements from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA): otda.ny.gov/shutdown
While SNAP benefits may be delayed, other Public Assistance programs are not impacted and will continue to be issued as normal.
