ELLICOTT, NY – Get ready to light up the runway: the Stomp Out the Stigma 5K returns to the Jamestown Airport on Saturday, September 26 at 6:30 PM, and the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Chautauqua County (the Alliance) is inviting the community to help turn this unique 5K into one big, energetic celebration of hope.
Where else can you run or walk a 5K right on an airport runway as the sun goes down? Participants will take to the tarmac at dusk, surrounded by glow gear, music and plenty of energy. Bring your friends, family, coworkers or running buddies, dress to glow, and get ready for an evening that’s about much more than crossing a finish line. Pit Stop Pops will be on site serving up tasty beverages, and attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with local resources and organizations offering information and support. Runners and walkers are both welcome, so you don’t need to be a competitive runner to be part of the fun.
The Alliance wants to make the runway shine this year with a crowd that is loud, bright and ready to have a great time, all while supporting an important cause. Proceeds from the event support suicide prevention initiatives here in Chautauqua County, helping the Alliance continue its work to increase awareness, reduce stigma and strengthen hope and connection throughout our community.
There’s still time to join us, but don’t wait! Registration through RunSignup closes Friday, September 25 at 5 p.m. Grab your glow gear, invite your people and come help us fill the runway with light, music, movement and hope.
