Submitted by Justin Gould on

MAYVILLE, N.Y. – Chautauqua County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. will present his 2026 Tentative Executive Budget next week, a plan built around the theme “Doing More for Less,” showcasing how the County will deliver improved services in 2026 while lowering the financial burden on taxpayers.

The presentation will take place on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Chautauqua County Legislative Chambers, 3 N. Erie St., Mayville, NY 14757. The address is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend in person or watch live on YouTube at: youtube.com/@ChautauquaCounty.

“The 2026 Executive Budget reflects our philosophy of doing more with less,” said Wendel. “Through innovation, efficiency, and careful fiscal management, we are able to improve services and strengthen our community—all while reducing the cost to taxpayers. This is about delivering real results, not simply spending more.”

As part of his address, Wendel will discuss how the County continues to manage mandated expenses such as Medicaid and foster care, while making smart investments that improve quality of life for residents.

“Our administration remains committed to conservative financial stewardship,” Wendel added. “We are proving that government can be more effective and responsive without asking our residents to pay more. This budget is a clear example of how Chautauqua County is leading with responsibility, creativity, and vision.”

The 2026 proposal will also outline priority projects and initiatives designed to ensure long-term stability and growth for the county.

“This is more than a financial plan—it’s a commitment to our future,” Wendel stated. “We are charting a course that not only strengthens our present but also creates opportunity for generations to come.”
