The local American Legion and the Chautauqua County Veterans Council will be holding a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at noon in front of the Chautauqua County Courthouse, 1 N. Erie St. in Mayville, N.Y.
The program is to honor and remember the over 3,000 Americans who were killed on September 11, 2001 when members of the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four planes and crashed them in the World Trade Center in New York City, the pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C., and a field in Western Pennsylvania.
The program will feature a few words from local dignitaries including George Borrello, New York State Senator; Elisabeth Rankin, representative for New York State Assemblyman Andy Goodell; Wendel; James Quattrone, Chautauqua County Sheriff; Greg Carlson, Chautauqua County Veterans Service Agency Director; Roger Bingham, Commander of the American Legion of Chautauqua County; and Susan Rowley, President of the Blue Star Mothers Lake Erie Chapter.
