Flood Watch in Effect for Chautauqua County Through Late Tonight
Issued by the National Weather Service - Buffalo, NY
Updated: 11:00 AM EDT, Monday, June 9, 2025

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Chautauqua County, in effect through late tonight due to the potential for excessive rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

What to Expect:

  • Heavy Rainfall: A slow-moving cold front will pass through the region this afternoon and evening, bringing rounds of showers and thunderstorms.

  • Flash Flooding Possible: Repeated storms over the same areas may lead to significant runoff, resulting in flooding in low-lying areas, small streams, creeks, and poor drainage locations.

Areas Included:

This Flood Watch includes Chautauqua County as well as the surrounding counties of Cattaraugus, Allegany, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Southern Erie, Wayne, and Wyoming.

Safety Tips:

  • Stay alert for rapidly rising water and never drive through flooded roads.

  • Be prepared to act if a Flash Flood Warning is issued later today.

  • Monitor updates from the National Weather Service and local officials.
