The Vulnerable Child and Family: Developing a Comprehensive System of Care

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services will be hosting this full day community event, The Vulnerable Child and Family: Developing a Comprehensive System of Care. 

The event will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, 10 Dunham Ave. in Celoron, N.Y. It features Dr. Ira J. Chasnoff, an award-winning author, researcher, and lecturer, who is president of NTI Upstream and a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He is one of the nation's leading researchers in the field of child development and the effects of maternal substance use disorder on the newborn infant and child. 

The session will focus on prenatal substance abuse, epidemiology of substance use in pregnancy, maternal consequences of prenatal drug/ alcohol use, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, impact of exposure on the growing child, and developing a system of care in Chautauqua County. 

The event is free and lunch will be provided. Registration is required by October 25, 2019.
