What would happen if we went a day without water? Two local students are helping answer that question through a creative new production that highlights the importance of protecting our water resources.

Bailey Burnett and Talia Bensink, students with CHQ Kids Care, created “Without Water” in recognition of Imagine a Day Without Water, a national day of action that encourages communities to recognize the essential role water plays in our daily lives, environment and future.

The production follows Wave, a native wood turtle who wakes up to a blurry world and searches for the clean, flowing water essential to her habitat. Through Wave’s journey, the students highlight familiar local treasures, including our woods, Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake, while reminding viewers that healthy waterways are vital to both wildlife and our communities.

The students’ message has already reached beyond the local community, with the New York State American Water Works Association (NYS AWWA) sharing their work on its statewide platform.

Residents are encouraged to watch “Without Water” and experience Chautauqua County through Wave’s eyes.
