Acting Chautauqua County Executive Stephen Abdella has announced that many Chautauqua County Government offices will be closing early to the public on Christmas Eve.
The Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities Division of Solid Waste will be holding this event where residents can safely dispose of hazardous items for free. Among some of the items that will be accepted are used antifreeze, nail polish, fluorescent light bulbs, hobby glues, non-empty aerosol cans, furniture and floor polishes, stains, turpentine, sealants, oil-based paints, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and pool chemicals. Residents taking part in the event must complete a registration form that lists all of the materials they are dropping off.
This board’s mission is to enhance economic viability of the agricultural industry and to preserve and protect farmland in Chautauqua County. For more information, visit the Planning Chautauqua website or call Department of Planning and Economic Development at (716) 661-8900.
