What if there is an open lead case in my rental unit?
If you are living in a unit with an open lead case, be aware that you should always receive a copy of your inspection report. If you are aware of an existing inspection at your unit and have not yet received a copy, call us at 716-753-4749.
Landlords are required to fix lead hazards in their rental properties in order to ensure you and your family’s safety. It can take time to build a work plan, so we need your help to work with your landlords to allow access into your unit, so that the necessary fixes can be made. In some cases, this may mean that you need to be out of your unit for the whole day, but doing so will allow your landlord to maintain a lead-safe space to protect your children!
If you move out of a unit with an open lead case, please contact your risk assessor or the health department. This helps us keep track of that status of our open cases and prevent children from being poisoned in that unit in the future!
